High flow cat
I want to get one, but I don't know what would work best on my car.
I'm looking for best performance with least amount of $$$ |
Unlike mufflers, there really isn't a whole lotta difference between them. Some people just buy a larger stock cat from a larger car or truck. As long as it's rated for 'higher flow' and has the same inlet and outlet sizes (I think you're 2.25", but measure it), you should do fine.

Is there one brand out there that's more reliable than others?
I got mine on ebay for about 50 bucks. It's a catco convertor, but the flow is much better than the OEM convertor.
Autosound for me. Same price more or less, but purchased locally. Even magnaflow sells a cat, but you pay for the name on it.
All right, I'll check out both of those.
How is the installation with those? |
You might have to remove the O2 sensor, and i think its just taking a cutting torch to the pipe and then using a MIG welder to put the new one on. At least thats how it works on a muffler...
I dont even think some have to be welded, it seems they are made to bolt on for easier removal, but not sure...
welding would give you that airtight seal with no excess noise though...
Look on www.summitracing.com at catco catalytic convertors. like egladman said they are 50 bucks for a universal fit one. Thats what I'm getting...but it's a dream for now! I'm as broke as a stepped on cracker!
