Default New chip for 96?

I'm haveing a difficult time finding a chip for a 96 SE. Does someone make them? If so, who? On all the sites that I have looked at, it seems that they have left out the 96'*.

You're trapped in the middle. I think your difficulty is because the 95 was the hybrid OBD1/OBD2 year, and 97 was the first year for the 4T65E transaxle. You may have to go with a custom burn, in which case, mod everything else first, then have the chip burned to take advantage of all that.

The 95 and 96 was the first models with the OBDII and has some different software. The only way to get a chip for it is to have one specially burnt for what you what done.

Here is a little info I got from Hector when I asked him about it.

There are no premade chips for 95-96 Bonneville'*. You are in one of the
transition years from OBD 1 to OBD 2 as well as the transmission changeover.
Everything is stacked against you. That'* why there is a jump from 94-97.
You might be able to get a chip from Superchips (www.superchips.com). But
they have recently been changing their requirements, like no pre 95 vehicles
and a few things. Ask them.

Either go custom burn or buy one of those programming tools which allows you to tune your computer. Superchips and Hypertech make them.

I don't think the programming tools will work on our cars esp. 96 models, mostly just trucks and sports cars.

I've spent some time looking into this and it seems everyone is right. Although with quite a bit of searching I have been able to find a company that sells chips for n/a and */c 1995 bonnies and 1997 chips are all over. 1996 remains the time that chips forgot. Your also right about the programming tools, most I've found are for trucks. Although they do have them for trans ams and I'm not sure what it would take to get one to program yours. Best idea is just to write to these companies and ask. When in doubt ask a pro Good luck
