Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Hedman would make headers for our cars if there was interest

There alot cheaper than TOG'* and SLP'*.
The *&* Headers have the O2 bung on the tube that connects the crossover to the rear header. In this case, the O2 only reads from the front bank.

Some would argue this isn't anything to be concerned about while others think it won't give accurate readings. Funny (odd) thing is that about 90% of cases where the top ring land has broken off the pistons, it'* been on the front bank.
Could you expand on this . . . i am not following the issue here. is it a good thing or a bad thing about the location of the O2 sensor??

Depends on who you talk to...but let me explain.

If the O2 sensor only reads from the front cylinders, what happens if the rear bank goes lean for some reason (problem with injector wiring, fuel rail, etc) ? In that case the O2 sensor would be blind to what'* going on and therefore would make no attempt to compensate. Since the rear bank of cylinders usually run hotter than the front, some would be concerned.

On the other hand, almost all of the piston failures I've seen have been on the front bank. In this case, since the O2 reads these cylinders, the PCM may be able to compensate.

But for the money the *&* Headers are a viable option. The O2 bung can either be relocated, or just plugged and another located in a more suitable spot to read all cylinders. Because the bung needs welding, you'd best order them uncoated and then have the )* bung work done and then have them coated.

Performance wise they're fine. Somewhat more restrictive than the SLP and TOG headers so if your goal is mid 12s maybe you should elsewhere. Again, they're good value for the money but the O2 bung needs attention.

Cheers,

$350 is pretty good! ($500 with ceramic coating).
