right i totally get that makes perfect sense i mean i dont like how you phrased it made it sound like the only way to add power was to supercharger lol . I have a good grasp on how to theoretically make power i dont think i told you this dan but im a engineering student in fl getting close to graduating and i specialize in energy systems. so theoretically i know all about how to make power. however, i know each car has its own weak links i know on a small block almost always one of the weakest links is the heads and on even a mild engine a minor smooth and port can get 30+ hp to the crank. but i also know its different for every car our intakes suck lol i know that our downpipes suck and the front mani is bad. my plan for the summer since i work full time is to get the front plog a downpipe and the hp suite. then i figured might as well port the intake as realistically it costs what maybe 100 bucks for gaskets i have the tools already to do it. then i thought if i port the intake its only what 8 more bolts to pop the heads off (exaggerating but not to hard) so was thinking why not just get the top engine rebuild from zzp for 200 and port it all. at that point my weakest or traffic jam will be exactly what i want it to be the valves dictated by the stock cam and stock rockers. so what i was really asking from those who have seen the inside is how bad are our heads how much can be gained in cfm (roughly) from a port or going from stock to stage 2. sorry for the long post i just always feel like when people posts in forums everyones first response is probably this person is all talk or whatever i just wanted to say i do know what im doing and love to play with my baby lol

Thumbs up porting and polishing the heads.

Hey I just wnated to give some tips on this matter. I was looking at a rescent article where they had ported and polished the intake and exhaust outlets. The added bigger valves and shaved a little off the bottom. After which they polished the piston tops. This engine produced 257 hp without SC. At the wheels. The 3800 was in a camaro with rear wheel drive. You would have more in a front wheel drive. Although the machine work was done by pro'* you could do it close enough. It would take a long time and patience. I ported and polished my 302 and it took a month of about 4-6 hrs a day. You have to be carefull not to get into a water jacket and ruin your head. Now you really want to do something cool they'll cost you about $160 dollars each. And that is putting NASCAR pistons with your bore specification inside. If you have ever held a NASCAR piston it'* like hoilding a cellphone. Gauranteed hp increase.
