Here is a great spoof. Split-Fire Spark Plugs. They only show an improvement in performance because you are doing a tuneup. They have no advantage over any other spark plug on the market.

Not necessarily true. The provide a more complete burn, but you'll see more of an improvement in emissions than in performance. NGK V-powers do the same thing, but in a way that the plugs out-last the splitfires.

Keep in mind, electricity follows the path of least resistance. It will still provide the same burn as any other high quality plug. It is actually made next to and has the same components as an autolite spark plug. The only difference is the split end. Autolite engineers did a study on them when they first started making them and found no improvement over their standard plug with the normal end on it.

It does folllow the shortest path, but it does alternate back and forth. NGK V-Power'* have been proven to give a SLIGHT improvement in burn rate efficiency, but I'll give you that I don't know that information with regards to Splitfires. Both plugs operate in 'oppositely similar' fashion.

Regarding plugs, does anyone know if our ignition fires with opposite polarity from one side of the coil to the other? I suspect it does. I know my wifes Ranger with the same style ignition uses platinum on opposite electrodes on opposite sides of the engine. Strange but true.

The improvements their "independant" testing showed, tend to make me think the PCV system needed service in the first place.

HEI distributers on older pre 72 engines.
The points work just as good on the old engines.
HEI was need when they leaned out engines for emissions.
