I STRUCK GOLD TODAY
I dropped the fuel tank to clean it up and change the sending unit and there it was......stuck to the top of the tank.......
......the original build sheet. Only 3/4 of it is readable but most of the good stuff is legible.
What a great find. Everything is as it should be, no big surprises and now I have the proof of all the options and codes.
Found out that it has the 2.73 rear end ratio. My Formula came with the 2.41 ratio so that'* what I thought this one had.
Changed all the body mounts yesterday. They were all toast.

Yes I am going to keep that ratio.
I have installed a mild camshaft and don't plan on revving it beyond 5500 rpm.
BTW the original cam made peak hp at a lowly 3600 rpm.
The 2.73 gearing, because this trani doesn't have an overdrive, will give me a topend speed of 150 mph and still provide comfortable low speed rpm.
With the 3.08 gearing in my other Firebird, my top speed is limited to 135 mph.
......and I like to go fast.

Just got back from Vancouver.
Scored some great parts from a 2nd Generation (70-81) Firebird parts guy - Brian - birdparts4sale@yahoo.com
Center console, right inner fender, rad support and a rear light lens assembly.....all for just a little more than $200. Great deal. I traded a 4 speed console that wouldn't work with mine.
I've got everything I need now except the alternator bracket.
May have to have one specially fabricated.
3D model may have to be made because it is an aluminum casting. I'll have it made out of stainless steel for better strength.
Rod, tell me more about the Silver State Classic Challenge.

The SSCC is an open road race in Nevada. Think Big wide open areas, long roads, with some bends, and no trees to hit.
