No problem.....just a challenge.

Figured out how to adjust the T-Tops for a leak tight seal. :P

The rest will just take time and patience........and a few $$.

Had to order new headers today. The old ones were swiss cheese. :(

So I'm searching for more parts today for the Trans Am.

Total frustration until I stumble across some guy who lives in Vancouver and deals exclusively in 2nd Generation Firebird parts.
A gold mine in found.
This dude sells Firebird parts to Jesse James down in California.

.....I'm going to need a gold mine to afford the parts. :(

Ordered new Hooker headers and complete engine gasket set today.
Headers are only $270. and all gaskets Felpro for only $170.
A deal compared to Bonne parts.

Yeah, I got quoted $300+ US for alll the gasket'* and bolts for when would've swapped the heads and mani'* on my SSE. And they were Victor gaskets. That is highway robbery, plain and simple.
But alas, the SSE is going bye-bye this weekend -sister of the guy who bought my SSEi said she wanted to buy it and made an offer I couldn't refuse.

Other parts like the brake calipers were shocking.

The front brake calipers are only $25. ea but the rear calipers are $130.ea plus a $60 core charge........at least they are available. :P

I would hate to price what the Bonne calipers are worth....hopefully won't have to worry about rebuilding those for a long long time.

I'm tearing apart as much as I have to.
So far I'm half way there.
Front end is just about torn off. Took off cooling system, and all engine front accessories tonight. Interior is all out.
My next challenge is pulling the steering wheel to replace the ignition key cylinder. You can start it without a key right now.....can't have that.

I'm almost afraid to drop the engine pan for fear of what I might see. I have discovered that the oil filter is trapped by the headers, so I'm not sure if the previous owners have ever changed it. :? The dipstick tube was broken off at the engine and only the stick was holding it in place.....how did he ever accurately check the level. More oil on the outside of the engine than in it.

The alternator bracket was broken and so when the engine was running, it vibrated like crazy.

it sounds like you might be in need of a new engine. How much will a crate 6.6L run you?
