Default AutoEnginuity Scan Tool

For all the OBD2'ers.. Not long ago I picked up the Autotap scan tool and software for my laptop. Being that I do more and am looking to go further than simply reading, tonight I ordered the AutoEnginuity package including the GM enhancement.

Their package states it will work bidirectionally, meaning like the high priced scan tools it has the abilty to test the different onboard systems functionally and even CASE learn. (CASE is needed when installing a new engine or PCM).

Having evaluated the Autotap, I can tell you it is a nice product that allows you to read, record, playback and export all visible parameters....however.. you can not initiate any tests. With this new package from AutoEnginuity, I should be gaining that ability plus more while having the same scanning and logging abilities as Autotap.

Knowing that scanning has been a "hot" topic lately, in the past and recent..we have all had many questions as to the best tools available...Soon I hope we can provide each of you with good data to make your decisions.

I plan on doing a write up as to the differences from first hand testing on my Bonneville. As well I am working with others like BigNews to get information on other tools such as the AutoXray and Lash with (I think) the older XRay model.

Please ask questions and if possible give me scenarios to test side by side between the two tools I will have at my disposal.
