Adding Performance Shift Buttons for Those Without!
You HAVE a junkyard with a SSEi section?
Must be nice for parts then!
Up here you don't ever find any Bonneville in the junkyard!
I guess that'* a mixed blessing though!

Companies have pulled stuf like this a lot in the past; like the "turbo" button on old 486 computers usedto run normal speed when on and 25% slower when off. The name "performance shift" could be deceiving.
I though someone had also posted preiviously n this topic stating they tried to hook it up and it didn't make a difference. Not sure where it was but didn't feel like searching all day for it.
This may or may not be the case. If the 5400rpm is the only thing that concerns you then it may be something like the above mentioned otherwise who knows. :?

I believe there is a way to make the series II SC engine work with older units. I still figure just swapping the whole computer and all is the best way to go. That said the zz performance sc option for the non-sc series II is a great option but very expensive. I was thinking stroker and or redone heads. In the end it comes down to #'* and cash. The more people we get together in our hometowns the better. Anyway the more people we get involved the more of a chance we have at having what we want. We need more people to make anything happen.

For those of you with traction control and without the adjustable suspension who want to try this mod and fill us in, here is one for $10 on e-bay. I would've definetely scooped it up, but I need one with all 5 buttons. Mine right now is missing the top 2, this one is missing the bottom 2. :( Oh well, enjoy!

Ok guys I am new here, but i have owned 2 Bonnys, a 1993 SSE white, and a 1995 SSE silver....Both cars have shifted from 1st to 2nd gear at 5500. Neither of these cars has the performance shift buttons....Now the interesting thing is that from 2nd to third gear (Approx. 90 MPH) the car will not shift on its own and the rev limiter kicks in at 5500 if the shifter is in 2nd gear....If all the performance shift buttons do is raise the shift points, then i guess most of us don't need it. I have heard nothign about increased tourque in the low end though.

"None of you SSE guys have a friend close by with a SSEi do you ? If you do, take out the 2 screws underneath your front ashtray, pull out the clip on the front of your transmission handle and pull that off, then swing the whole center part of the console upwards from the front (its hinged). If you can borrow a friends SSEi switch pod for a sec, plug it in and let us know what happens! Very easy to do! "

Term, did you ever have any luck finding another switch pod and trying it? In answer to your question (I remember reading this last month) I now have an identical car right next door without the perf shift option. 93SSE. If this question is still unanswered, Jseabert and I can swap pods in about 30 seconds, and see what BOTH cars do with the other'* pod. That should confirm things once and for all, at least for those with identical PCM'*......(which may exclude you)
