Default 1998 SSE exhaust question?

I know this has probably been discussed hundreds of times over, but I just couldn't find what I am asking in any of the search results. I just want to know what different exhaust systems would sound good/costs/what all I needand whatever else.

I currently have dual exhaust. I was thinking either Flowmaster 40, 80, or Delta, probably one of the latter two. Let me know please.

Thanks,
Chris[/b]

Magnaflow and Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers are two similar, good designs. They are some of the best flowing mufflers you can get, and they have a nice mellow tone that gets aggressive when you get into the throttle. They don't drone inside the car either. I used to have a Flowmaster camaro muffler (with the fakie duals) on my 3800 series II Buick, and it was really loud and resonated a lot inside the car. I have a Thrush (made by Dynomax) turbo with the biggest case I could get, 20", which now provides good flow and nice quiet tone. It has a noticeable exhaust note, but barely, which is what I was looking for. I have a cammed up 327 in my Camaro if I really want to go drive around and hear a great sounding exhaust (mandrel bent dual 2.25" with Dynomax Ultraflow race magnums). I don't need a V6 to be blasting too.

Flowmasters are popular, but Magnaflows are proven to flow better (at least on the test vehicles). If you might be interested in a Magnaflow muffler you might check www.justmagnaflow.com and get free shipping on purchases over $50.
In a side by side comparison I have heard a 1993 SLE without a resonator, and 2.5" piping and a 1994 SLE with 2.25" piping and factory resonator. Both cars had a Flowmaster 80 Series (2.5" inlet -dual 2.25" outlets) and the 1993 SLE was a LOT louder.
I had my 1999 SSEi there with a 3" Magnaflow (all stock exhaust before the muffler), and it was quieter than the Flowmasters at idle (could hardly hear my car next to them), but when we revved my Magnaflow gained more db'* from idle to 3k rpms compared to the Flowmasters, but still not quite as loud.

For a muffler you will need a F-body muffler, or on with one outlet on each end.

There are a few sound clips floating around BC that I'm sure you seen/heard in your research here, but if not look at the Exhaust sticky in Performance and Brainstorming.

Also, Dynomax, and Raven are pretty good from what I've heard people say (have a Dynomax Super Turbo on my Lebaron and really like it but that'* a 2.2L turbo engine).

if you want loud go with the flowmaster 40 series.
