Little bit of a new problem: The girls were driving the car last night and said the check engine light came on, but it was still running fine. I had autozone check and i got a "system lean bank 1" code. What'* the deal with this? BTW the light went off, but i had the guy cleared the codes also.

Possible lean condition, or the O2 has just about dies due to coolant contamination... My MPG'* fell off the face of the earth after my upper failure...
Have them keep an eye on the milage.... Bank one is actually the O2 sensor in the rear manifold... The engine in that car does not have a front and rear bank O2... But they call it bank one anyhow...
My gut tells me the O2 may be closer to its grave

You are correct sir it is in fact a '97. I know it'* a heated unit so i figured it'd be more. We'll see if the code comes back though.

WOW!!!!! Had that happen to my 95 Bonnie. White smoke everywhere and I didn' t know any better. I was on the move going down the highway at about 65. Coolant got into my crankcase - OUCH! Had to have my entire engine rebuilt. Got it done and runs great. Have decided to keep an eye on my upper intake as the plastic material can crack allowing coolant to get into the engine. What a lesson that was. As long as your oil has not been contaminated - you should be in alright as far as having to rebuild an engine. Myself, I can handle installing new intake gaskets.
