Yes.. I let the belt sit in place but remove it from the tensioner.

So just wondering...could this be the cause of my rough idleing as well? because when the car is on i can see the tensioner moving like crazy.

The harmonic balancer may be failing to damp vibration if it is really torn up. You must change the harmonic balancer in any case. Do that first, then see what you have. If the engine is running rough with the new balancer, look for vacuum leaks, bad plugs, wires and coils.

SO guys I've driven my car for the first time in about 3 months...i just installed a new battery and got a new belt that'* about to be installed soon. i still haven't gotten to changing that balancer yet and it'* still bad. even worse now since it sat for almost 2 and a half months. i drove down the street and i just felt the car shaking really bad. then heard a high pitch nose and then it shut off...cranked it rite back up and then she died. it happened about 5 times. but i noticed it only happend when i put it in drive. it would just make a really bad nosie if i had it in park or nutruel. but once in drive it would just shut off.....so i just want to know is this all a result of the balancer? and what tools do i need to take this harmonic balancer?

The harmonic balancer has nothing to do with what gear you select. Please check the fluid level, color, and smell of your trans fluid.

WD-40 isn't a lubricant. That'* the last thing I'd spray on it.

Remove the belt and run it (cold) for a few minutes. Is the noise still there?

Default Small Update.

Well i've set it up to have my harmonic balancer changed out along with my Crankshaft position sensor, and also i'm going to give my tranny a good cleaning, a new pan gasket and filter. so i hope this fixes all these little problems i've had/been having.
