It sounds like just XM, I wonder if any other XM'ers are having the same issues today?

Mine was off and on at NEBF but I just thought it was the terrain.

I read about people with XM issues on other boards. But for once, my Sirius converted XM setup didn't have any problems. I've been having reception problems intermittently for the past 2 weeks except for today.

XM seems to be working again today as of 5:00pm (eastern time). It was still crappy this morning on my way into work but is solid now.

This is encouraging news! Took my car to the dealer for some unrelated work this morning and the lousy reception was really starting to grate on my nerves... Hopefully all is well once I get it back.

This was in the new today:

XM restores radio service
By MATTHEW BARAKAT
AP BUSINESS WRITER

XM Satellite Radio restored service Tuesday after a software glitch knocked out the signal from one of its four satellites and disrupted service to many of the company'* 8 million subscribers for about a day.

The problems began around noon Monday, the company said. XM initially expected to fix the problem after a few hours but service remained disrupted for about 24 hours.

"The problem occurred during the loading of software to a critical component of our satellite broadcast system, which resulted in a loss of signal from one of our satellites," the company said on its Web site.

A company spokesman said he had no information on how many customers experienced outages or weak signals. Internet message boards indicated the problem was widespread.

It was the first extended, significant disruption in XM service since the Washington-based company launched service in 2001.

The company apologized to customers in a brief statement Tuesday.

XM customers pay about $13 a month for the service.

XM has four satellites built by Boeing Co. and launched between 2001 and 2006. The first two experienced significant problems and are now regarded as "in-orbit spares," according to the company'* annual report.

RBC Capital Markets analyst David Bank said this week'* service disruption will become an issue for investors if subscribers begin to turn away from XM.

"We'll have to find out exactly what happened, whether it'* a systemic problem or just a fluke," Bank said Tuesday.

The real concern would be if the problems result in lost subscribers, called "churn" in the industry, Bank said, but it is too early to tell if that will result.

XM also took some heat from subscribers earlier this month when it suspended shock jocks Opie and Anthony for 30 days following a broadcast in which they aired crude sex comments about Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth. Fans of the show complained that XM engaged in unnecessary censorship since satellite radio is not bound by Federal Communications Commission decency regulations.

XM and competitor Sirius Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. are seeking regulatory approval for an acquisition by Sirius that would merge the two networks.

XM shares rose 2 cents $11.16 in trading Tuesday on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

Sorry about being off topic here, but that really surprises me. XM has lost a TON of members over the past week due to the Opie and Anthony cancellation, and for good reason. Ever since that stupid "nappy headed hoe" thing, all of the media superpowers have had a steady finger a half an inch away from the kill button 100% of the time. People need to lighten up
