I'm a bit ticked. So I bought an XBOX 360 off ebay (refurb).
Seemed like a good deal for $200.
Get it out of the box and turn it on..about 30 minutes later 3 RED Leds on the front ring around the power button are flashing.
Appears to be dead.
Seller is giving me a run-around. I'm going to at minmum lose the return shipping ($25 at least)......oh well.
I guess that teaches me a lesson not to buy a refurb. Thinking of either getting an arcade or getting the "premium bundle" now vs a GEN 1 Xbox.

You could try the eraser fix:

#3 fix.
Seems to be working for a lot of people.

Do yourself a favor and get the Premium. It comes with a copy of Forza Motorsport + Marvel alliance. Forza is worth it in itself. Also comes with wireless controller, Hard drive, xbox live headset.
That'* the one I got. . No problems yet. The only time I've had the lights was when I accidentally bumped it with something.

that sucks Hans... dont give up on the 360 though. i cant believe that i've had mine since release and have not had one issue with it, knock on wood. fwiw, the cheapest xbox is $279 new. that might just be the way to go.
Don't get the arcade, thats the cheap one, for a reason. It has no Hard Drive, You'll have to buy a memory card(*)...which is about another $50 each, which after buying just one memory card brings you to nearly the same price as a standard xbox 360 which has a 20GB Hard Drive. The arcade does come with a 256mb Memory Card but thats only gonna hold maybe one game (completed). And also the arcade version does not play original xbox games, The Standard and Elite do play original xbox games I believe. So I'd suggest getting the Standard version, 20gb should be plenty enough space. Instead of buying $50 memory cards every time you run out of space.
My brother went after the arcade because it was cheaper then found out all this stuff later
For now the 256 and 512 memory cards we have are holding Halo 3 and Forza 2 ok, though forza we had to move from the 256 to the 512 as it ran out of space. Brother is now looking for a Hard Drive.

I also traded in my whole life of ps2 for it, which helped on the cost a bit.

Ours does that pretty much every other time you turn it on. High quality stuff. Anyway, usually we can turn it off and turn it back on and its fine. Sounds like your case is alot worse though.
