IMO Your best to stick to the arguments with the guy where you can prove him wrong with the facts ie. track times, importing brand new skylines etc. and leave the ones alone where opinion prevails ie the civic argument.
But please stick it to this guy he sounds like a bag of marbles has a higher iq then them and Im sure you and we all know this but just because someone works at a aftermarket place doesnt mean they know cars, a guy on another car site Im on seels aftermarket parts and the other day he was seen looking up how an internal combustion motor works.
As for your friends personally I would just rub it in to them when it was proved I was right and the "car genius" was proved to be a dummeo

THOSE are the kind of people that bother me. The people who say they know stuff, yet know jack ***^.
What really pissed me off like I said though, was that 2 of my friends backed him up, since everyone still thinks im wrong about a GTP beating a 323i.

Ask him what kind of cam it is.... Roller or Conventional...
Ask him if it had teflon coated pistons in cyl 5&6 or all 6 pistons were teflon coated... For a couple of years GM only used 2 teflon coated pistons to help avoid piston scuff, later they just started to use teflon coated pistons in all 6 cylinders, even a replacement piston in 99 would have been teflon coated...
Ask him what what other head design does the 3100 head resemble, the 3100 heads are set up in a manner such as a Big Block chevy...
Ask him what and where is the most common oil leak on the car... This will be the oil pump shaft seal.... Funny GM redesigned the 2.8, 3.1 and even when it became the 3100, 3400 it still retained the oil pump shaft which was driven off of the old distributor, the only thing missing is that distributor as the engines are ofcourse DIS.... But that shaft is still there, and is sealed with a plug that has an O-ring that will degrade over time causing the engine to leak like a sive...lol
Ask him if he has a 2 core or 3 core radiator...
Ask him if he can check his tranny fluid, of if its required.... These transmissions can have a fluid and filter change, but they are sealed from the factory, no dipstick...lol
See if he knows which engine he has Vin J or Vin M....
If he has a Vin M engine than he has about 155 Hp and 185 ft lbs of torque... I have driven a few of these cars, I hated the 4T45-E... Lets just say I was happy to get behind the wheel of the bonnie again... I do like the fact that the Vin J engines made more power... I think its 165-170 hp depending on the application... But torque was not much improved...
Sorry... Gettign carried away here...
