I prefer LinkSys routers. They run Linux and allow you to easily replace the OS and turn your $60 router into a several hundred dollar Cisco router. Since CIsco owns LinkSys, the routers are basically the same hardware as higher priced Cisco units, they just disable features via software.

I had the same problems with my netgear. you can buy it right now on ebay if you prefer:

it did work but had compatibilty issues with my wireless network card....it worked great on some but not the intel integrated on my laptop.

I bought the linksys from walmart....much better, faster too.
