Can Vista be made to use the "Windows Classic" theme, like on Windows XP? XP Pro on my machine is set to the Classic theme, and I'm so used to the interface that I don't even like the standard XP theme. I would hate to change my ways with Vista!

Vistia is going to take more ram because its beta and theres a debugger running in the background, thats a given.

But that aside, here is some food for thought. Windows XP was released on a regular cd. These cd'* have the capacity to hold 650-700 mb, but naturally WIndows does not use up the whole disk, more like 550 mb. Now, here comes the re-written from scratch upgrade of the NT kernel, and it comes in 3.3 GIGS?!? I would like to ask all of you, WTF is in Vista that requires so much space?

As long as programs in the future are not locked into Vista and still work with XP (there is no reason why it should not, its the same kernel!) then im sticking to XP.

I wouldnt' mind trying it out, but I don't want to have all my programs/hardware not work correctly. I think I'll just wait for it to come out to buy. . It does look really nice so far though. have they announced pricing yet?

I didn't realize that was available!

It is a big download, but there are a lot of things bundled with this OS.

LOL Sol I'm a digger. As I mentioned it just went public yesterday. But WHY would an OS take up 3.5 gig??? 7 times the space of XP.The sheer size of it is overwhelming... considering my first OS in BASIC took less then 27k 30 years ago.

Now I feel old.....Again..... with 425MB needed to just run the OS, a Gig ram wont go far. Kernel Smernal-----You can bet programs will be tailored for Vista only, just like all in the past. Bill Gates wants all the marbles and you can bet software and eventually hardware will have to be upgraded again, and again, and.........get the picture~ now get out your wallet.
