Feels Like 51.8 °F

... Flood Watch remains in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of western New York... including the following
counties... Allegany... Cattaraugus... Chautauqua... Genesee...
Livingston... Monroe... Niagara... northern Erie... Orleans...
southern Erie and Wyoming.

* From Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.

* Rain along with significant snow melt from notably milder
weather will bring the risk for ice jam flooding. Runoff from
rain falling on frozen ground may also cause flooding of streets
and areas of poor drainage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Stay tuned to weather radio or other radio and TV
stations for further details or updates

Hope you guys do not get too much rain Justin, the snow melting is bad enough!
It is a nice 67F here right now, and the snow is melting slowly, but surely.

Our Coquihalla highway that takes us to the interior of BC Canada has now been closed due to avalanche'* and bad accidents for now 24 hours. Apparently the radio reported they got another 3 feet of snow in the last storm, 2 days ago.
UPDATE: Coquihalla Highway to reopen this afternoon | Globalnews.ca
Talking about accidents on the Coke, A television series on Discovery TV called Highway Thru Hell is filmed there. You can see episodes or watch intro here:
Highway Thru Hell : Welcome To Winter
I am hoping for a sunny weekend soon, so I can grab the 4x4 and take a 300 mile winter ride...to go get some photos!
I dont think the Pk ave would be the right right choice in the conditions right now~!

Another class 4 Avalanche on Thurs has not allowed Coquihalla highway to re-open.
This video shows the slide area 1000 meters long 250 m wide and 3 m deep on road on top of the 6' of resent snow fall, in last 30 hours since my last post # 34 !
CTV Vancouver: Major avalanche closes Hwy 5 | CTV Vancouver News
I wonder how long with all the snow and no plowing operations now in 4 days, is it going to take to re-open the entire hwy which extends over 75 miles!
Wow they sure got their work cut out for all of the highway crews!
Cheers Guys! Hats off to ya!

Btw Their plow trucks have special GPS and roadway mapping screen system that allows safe plowing, even when zero visibility and no roadway to be found!
