Question What year is the best Trans Am?

No not the firebird! I'm thinking 1978ish maybe someone can correct me. I think I'm going to get a classic again. I was pushing for a newer car, but in all actuality I think I would love the old trans am, you know the one with the big block v8 in it? Anyone know what I'm talking about? Maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

I had a 1979 Camaro with a custom built 375HP 350 that smoked the doors off of most 6.2 TA'* and all Firebirds of that era it encountered. I still respected the 78 and 79 TA'* and Firebirds and they were bullet tough out of the box, so either year sounds good to me. I just didn't care for their styling/looks.

It really depended on the car, not year. The 455H.O.'* were the bomb.

I'm leaning toward the 73 SD w/ a Muncie behind it. No replacement for displacement...
A close second goes out to the SLP Firehawk TA.

I've had a 91 Z28 (350/Auto), a 93 Z28 (6spd) and most recently a 2000 Camaro SS (6spd hardtop).
The LS1'* beat them all hands down. They can run a straight line and keep up with the vintage big block cars, but they can turn and stop as well. The SLP package cars were very well balanced even if they weren't the fastest or the best handling of the late model tuner cars.

I'd pick the 89 Turbo T/A . Basically , a T/A with a Buick GNX drivetrain , very easy to make fast .

that 1971 Trans AM HO looks sweet! I love the big grille, how much would one cost? It has to be in fairly good condition.
