wait long enough and microsoft will release some other "new" OS and everyone will be saying that it sucks and they'll never switch from vista
I've been through them all from Windows 3.1 to Vistula. I have never had so many pieces of two-three year old hardware go obsolete because "X company has informed us they are not creating a driver for this unit for Vista".

List:
Logitech Keyboard
Plustek Scanner
Creative Jukebox Zen
HP All in One Printer (software)
HP2500CP
Olympus C-50 Zoom

And this doesn't include the list of hardware that runs sub-optimally using an XP driver.

Software list fills the page...

I can run the Windows Virtual PC for some programs but guess what... it doesn't support USB emulation so none of those pieces of hardware will run. Fantabulous. At least since Windows 95, each new generation meant new drivers. Why so many tech companies are not writing for Vistula is beyond me (prolly want to sell you the newer crap), so it'* not just a Vista issue. Manufacturers are taking advantage of it.

As an OS goes, other than being a TOTAL memory hog, it hasn't been that bad. But the driver part makes it REAL annoying.

And guess what... several manufacturers are making their products NON-DOWNGRADABLE. Went to HP'* site to get the drivers/software for my HP tx1000 and.... only drivers are for...wait for it.... VISTULA. No XP drivers so I can NOT downgrade.

A big conspiracy to sell more peripherals if you ask me...

Tyr going to the HP European site and getting the drivers there. Probably the United Kingdom would work best unless you seek another language
I hope that helps!

When I first started working where I'm working now we had two Power Computing machines running System 7.5. They were great machines.

yeah its just I have to buy new versions of programs that ran fine under windows XP. There are still no drivers for my Epson printer so I can print to cd, I had to buy another program that works under Vista. My Norton 2007 says works in vista but it does not. Have to download a patch to make it halfway work in vista Etc Etc. I guess in time everything will be worked out but I sure dont remember all these problems when I upgraded from 2000 to XP pro.
