I get good download speed from Speedtest but my ping times have steadily grown worse on FiOS, and thats more important esp for gaming.

Those tiers that ISP'* setup are nothing to live by. Its rather a marketing method to get more money out of customers because everyone is really getting about the same bandwidth, just that some ISP'* may limit bandwidth to some users via custom hardware/software configurations.

I'm speaking based on DSL though.
