Default Update to "Howdy Dayton OH!" with pic

Met up with ddalder out in Dayton Ohio yesterday. He and his boss, Fred, met up with me out at the Wright-Patterson AFB Museum.
Fred took off to explore on his own and Darcy and I checked out the Modern air power wing. They've got some really cool aircraft in there...
B-52G(or H), Bronco, SkyMaster, F-111A, C-123K(twin-radial, with twin jets for extra lift during defoliation spraying operations. The plaque very carefully avoided saying "Agent Orange"), they also had some odd stuff, including a "Jet Jeep" a little experimental one-man heli copter. It was basically a cabin just big enough for one guy and a fuel tank, and used pulse jets on the rotor tips for power.

Anyway, we all went out looking for food after, and ended up at Quaker Steak And Lube(first non-fastfood place spotted). Fred picked up the tab, big thanks to him! (I didn't argue much, he can write it off on expenses... )
Topics of conversation ranged from personal vehicles and occupations to taxes and legal differences between USA and Canda...
After that, they split for Van Wert, where they were gonna spend the night.

Pic...
Me, Darcy, Fred

(The oldsters driving the Truck there pulled in, saw me setting the camera up, and backed back out and waited...but boy, did they look annoyed! )

It was a great afternoon Thanks you for driving up all the way from Columbus to meet!

The air museum was quite a sight and I'm thinking another visit to see the rest of it is a must. The place is huge and there'* so many interesting aircraft. Fred is still thrilled beyond belief that he got to see a Stealth Bomber up close. He was talking about it again today with the group we met with in Van Werk. Not something we see every day up in Alberta!

This trip was definitely too short. It would have been nice to go for a cruise in your PA had there been more time. It looks like I'll be back either mid April or mid July for some training. We'll have to make plans and maybe round up a few other members for then.

I think I remember seeing a sign for St. Mary'*. I saw a couple of Bonnneville'* in Van Wert. A really nice blue 90'* vintage (although I have no idea specifically what year or trim) and a 2K+ in an almost copper colour with swoopies.

Hopefully you'll be around when I come back and we can meet up.

Yeah, moved out here to Hillsboro, Oregon 2 years ago. I will be heading home the 17th of this month and coming back to Oregon on the 25th. If you are around, let me know. Van Wert is only about 30 miles from me. Saint Marys is right off US RT 30 just past Wapakoneta (I-75 runs through Wapakoneta).
