Default Howdy ...

Just wanted to say that I enjoy the forum. I just bought a medium jade green (love the color) 1997 SE with 109,000. Over the course of my 12 years of driving Iv'e owned over 20 different vehicles. Of those, 4 have been cars with 3800 V6'*. I just love these engines! I bought the Bonneville because I wanted something a little sportier than my 1994 Park Avenue Ultra. I'll miss the supercharged engine (once I sell it), but the series ll is definitely no slouch. The Bonne is great and fits me well (I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs). I love ths sunroff and actually like the silver honecomb wheels. Feel like a got a good deal on this as I paid $4500 US. This is one grocery getter that I don't mind hauling the kids around in! Look foward to participating on the forum.

Welcome....

You'll find your grocery getter has a lot more potential then you expected, enjoy it, read up on some of the mods to prolong your engine and improve fuel effiency etc..

Have fun

Welcome aboard.. you're grocery hauler can carry your kids.. grocery.. room for the dog.. and still kick some Rice butt all at the same time.. not too many cars can do that.. welcome again...

And I'll have to agree with Spanky the **** Dog ( Or was it Poochie? ) ( 89Bonneville )hee hee.. you'll definitelyl want 2 things done before you mod the car ( and even if you don't.. it helps prolong the life of the engine and tranny ( Which is the 180 T-stat and additional tranny cooler ))

Default 180 stat

The guy that owned the car before me had the intake manifold meltdown and had it fixed in December. I'm thinking they may have put in the 180 stat. It never seems to go above 200. Should I replace it anyway?

Its quite possible that he already did....since the work has already been done, you have lucked out. Granted, next time you change your t-stat, ensure a 180 gets thrown in there.
