Ubuntu!
Yeah, the Ubuntu forums say it is still beta program and might not work on all systems. Apparently, ATI cards in general and Linux don't play well together.
When I installed it, got it kinda figured out, and finally turned it on, it messed up my screen resolution, took away the title bars from all my windows, and left "ghost" windows when I'd close one.
Oh, well. Maybe the next release....

I got that part figured out...site says Beryl is safe for ATI 9000 chips, but me thinks not.
Now I can't get x to come up on its own. Everytime it tries, it goes to white screen after login and password. Add to the fact I don't have /etc/x11/xorg directory...somehow Beryl decided it didn't need that, though Ubuntu does.

It'd be fun, but it just don't seem to like my hardware
I'd rather wait for ReactOS to mature: http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html All the current Linux distros out there are all the same, just what packages come with them are different. I've tried various distros through the years in an effort to ween myself away from Windows, but its a Windows word out there, and if you cant run some Windows software and games out there you dont have much of a choice. At least with ReactOS you can run some Win apps with not much setup time or playing around with emulation settings.
i'm dual booting it with windows vista. Got beryl running great and i'm even running world of warcraft with WINE. Only problem is it doesn't use my SLi machine effectively so i still use windows for gaming.
