For those who use personal cell phones for work.
Ok, I use a lot of my cell min for work now that my boss works out of a differen't building. Its also starting to push me right up to or over my limit too. My boss told me i can expense my cell minutes and have the company pay. so how do you charge them? I figured i'd go through my bill and add up the min used for work purposes and then charge them the $0.45 a min that cingular charges per min. I don't see why they should be able to use my "cheaper" minutes that i pay for in my plan, they should pay the flat rate of .45 a min in my mind.
but heres the problem with that. I use enough minuets that the business would end up paying about $10.00 more then my total bill! It sounds good to me but i don't think CSP will go for that. what do you do with your companys?

To keep from getting in trouble over it, I'd talk to your boss about how it'* supposed to work (and then tweak it from there, of course).
Any company with any common sense what-so-ever will want to see the bill they're paying, so charging them more than the bill says might be out.
Boosty is probably right, getting them to get you a phone is probably the best bet, if you get called that much.

Usually you will need to make a copy of your bill with all of the work related minutes that are used. Highlight them and submit it to the acconting Dept for reimbursment.
In my office, staff submit an expense report itemizing each expense that is inccured for business including reciepts. There is a company wide form that they have to use in order to be reimburshed for their expenses.

Yeah, a company cell phone would be the best by far. This company has grown to 3 times is size in a month so they are having some MAJOR growing pains. This is one of them. It was hard for my boss to get a company phone so i know it'll be hard for me. Maybe hitting them with these bills every month will help them see that its necessary. I don't want to charge them more then my bill but i don't want to get ripped off either... Also, i'm going to provide them with a copy of my bill with all my personal calls removed from it, only the business calls will be left on it. so they will see everything there and i know they won't pay more then it costs me :(.
oh, and i am working with my boss on this too, in the next day or so we are going to get this taken care of but i wanted to know what other suggestions i can offer if they try to screw me.

D... I assume that it'* possible you'd have rolling minutes if you didn't use them all for work.
That'* where the problem is.. your allotment might get used on work.. and then your personal calls would cost.

I'm probably going to end up with a company cell phone, VPN access to work, and all that other geek stuff. The nice part is, they pay the phone bill, and will probably even be paying fpr my internet access at home....
