Ok, got the boss response today. The position is still open, and likely to remain open for a while since NOBODY has even bothered to ask about it. Only caveat is that since it is a military contract, they offer no health insurance, but would reimburse me for out-of-pocket insurance expense. Pay would be roughly the same, if not slightly more (he assured me my pay would not go down, which is good). He said the best part is, they are in no hurry to fill the position, meaning I can take my time and mull over a few things before submitting the resume. And is totally cool with it since he knows the reasons why, and I have been casually talking to him about this for some time.

Now then, a local attorney says that since all the crap happened in California, I will have to partition Cali for full custody, regardless of everyone being in Iowa now. This sucks, since I cannot afford an attorney at California rates (3k retainer and about 300/hr), so another avenue will have to be explored. But, it'* lookin' like a move will happen in a few months or so

On another good note, my boss still wants me to be the go-to man for New York trips, and from the time I get on the plane, to the time I get off....is all OT

I've always been a fan of Hotlanta!! I had many business trips there and there are some very nice suburbs. I liked Marietta quite a bit. I don't know if its the same as it was 10 years ago but the people were nice and everything is easy to get to. I say go for it and do what is in the best interest of your son. Because your time with him is limited before he grows up and has his own life to live.

It'* rant time. Been on the phone with a lawyer in California. Even after explaining to him the current situation my son is in, all he could say is how much of a lousy father I am for not going to California when this was going on (I couldn't because I was just discharged and homeless) and that I would be wasting both my time and money, even if she was far worse than I am now. I couldn't believe it, and not only did it hurt for me to hear him say these things, it was just flat out unprofessional. There are a select few on here that know I suffer from a certain condition, and this conversation did absolutely nothing to help it any. But he did say that Cali really has nothing to do with this anymore, and that I would have to move everything to Iowa...so that is *some* good news.

What a *****! I'm assuming you didn't call CA to get his opinion on your parenting skills. If you got his name, I'd give the local bar association a jingle, or his boss at a minimum, and relay his opinions upwards, if ya catch my drift

I would contact the local Iowa family court and find out from them what you need to do.

Where in NY do you / will you be traveling to?

We have at jetBlue a training center in Queens that has older cabin trainers that need attention. My company (CAE) won a contract to maintain those as well as the ones we have here. So yours truly, and 2 other guys, will fly once a month for a few days to work on them.

Default Do the Move!!!

I moved from Kissimmee,Fl (just south of Orlando) a little less than a year ago. Best move I ever made. Aside from meeting mywife in Florida the move from Ma. to Fl was the worst move I ever made...O.k. getting into a fight with a cop in the LOBBY OF A POLICE STATION was the worst!!

I live in Newnan which is about 40 minutes on a good day to Atlanta. First thing I bought after buying my house was a BIG American flag. If you put up an American flag in Kissimmee some clown would come in the night time and replace it with a Puerto Rican flag...No lie!! Had it happen TWICE!!! They go out on New Years and the 4th of July and fire guns (shotguns, pistols and whatever else) into the air...Traffic is like...Give the NASCAR boys a bunch of beer and whiskey and then stick them out on the track for the Daytona 500!!! I won't even go into the hurricaines.

We bought our crappy house on less than 2/10th and acre in Fl about 10 years ago for $79k and sold it in '06 for $243k. Cost of living here is much better and everyone speaks English. Bought an awesome 1900 sq. ft on 1 full acre in a great family neighborhood. Couldn't let the kids out in the front yard or let them ride bikes in Fl, here they go off all day without a worry. Feels just like the small town in Ma. that I grew up in back in the 70'* and 80'*.

Sorry so long but wanted to give my .38 cents worth.
