I finally reached the bottom. The car amazingly landed on its wheels like a feather. I thought I just went through a wormhole into another world. I tunred off the engine and stepped out of the tempo. The place was deserted. However it looked strangely familiar. Then ...

...as I began to wander around, I realized I was in the same place-different time. A man approached me from across the way and look at the Tempo astonished. "Where'd you get that thing?" he asked "It looks like what they say we'll be driving around twenty some years down the road." Like a ton of bricks it hit me, I had landed in the year...

landed in the year 1915. I looked around at my surroundings. Old house here, horse there, everything was so different. The man looked at me and asked, "and where'd you get your clothes?" I looked astonished at him and replied....

..."Ummm...these?!?" I replied, "It'* not important". And they weren't, except they made me look like a strange alien life form-it was obvious to me that no one around here wore clothes like I had on. But I had much, much bigger issues, so I asked the man...

"Where are we?"
"Nowhere." He said. "This place is inhabitated. But it won't stay this way for long. The government just bought this area. They are planning on building a railroad. The 'Las Cruces' Railroad."
"What is keeping them" I said.
"Some freaky stuff has happened lately." The man replied.
I paused for a moment.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Im just staying here for a while. The government has put me here as a watchdog. They seemed to be concerned about trespassers."

I noticed a vague female figure away at my right.

"Who is that lady" I asked.
"What lady? Son, you and me are the only breathing people in this desert"
"I want to know more about this 'freaky stuff'" I replied...

as i turned to look at the lady figure in the distance, the gentelmen fell silent. When I looked back at him he was gone. Upon looking at the figure again it was much closer... within feet of me.

I jumped back in excitment. With a quick look from head to toe the woman was gorgeous. Semi-long golden brown hair that hung down to her shoulders, wonderful blue eyes that I could stare into for ages, lips puckered up so perfectly they spoke without saying a word. Her figure was a perfect hourglass shape and she was wearing a one piece red dress that clung to her body and left me spechless...

"W-w-ho are y-y-ou...?" I managed to mutter out...

"I am Xanthria of Trilar, a planet light years away," she said,"I have brought you here to save the world as you knew it. Seconds after you drove through the portal, your world was destroyed when scientist began testing the testing of the giant goober ray. it is your job to stop them now, when this all began. I will help you along the way, but only you can stop this. First, you must... "

...get out of this desert. It'* the only place I could think to land your Tempo that wouldn't be noticed by anyone. Upon reaching the nearest town, you must go buy new clothes-you're only gonna get strange looks wearing that. After that we'll worry about getting you to where you need to go."
I rolled my eyes and said, "Oh, thanks alot-first you tell me I have to save the world, now you are insulting my fashion sense." But, she was right, I wasn't going to get anywhere with the people of this century if they kept staring at me like a freak. Getting out of this place wasn't going to be any fun but it was time to get going, since I didn't want to be stuck in a desert with a man who may or may not remain friendly. After some scheming and contemplation, it occured to me that the best way out of this desert was...
