Default running problems with 1996 Grand Am 3100

a friend of mine has this 1996 Grand Am that is running crappy. She asked me to do the front brakes on it, and I did, and while I did them, I noticed how badly it was running. I threw my fuel pressure tester on it, and noticed that it was doing the same thing as my PA was. While running the PSI stays around 38-40 PSI, with throttle revs bumping it to 50psi. However, when she turns it off, the PSI slowly drops to 0 after a minute or so.

Would this be the fuel pump like it was on my PA, or would the Fuel Pressure regulator have something to do with this?

On a side note, I scanned it and saw 3 codes

P0300 - Misfire detected code
P0440 - EVAP system code
P1870 - Trans Slippage code

I cleared them and went for a 5 min drive and they did not come back on. I told her to drive it normally and let me know if the CEL comes back on.

Sounds like it needs a tuneup. I'm not positive on the fuel pressure for that but it seems right.

Andrew...

My dad has a 96 with the 3100.. I don't care how good looking she is. It makes the plugs on your car look like a 5 minute job. The intake gaskets.. while not overly tough..take a good deal of time.

Run buddy run.
