Gojo..I don't think you hijacked..you gave good information.

Buying a detector now is a waste in my mind. All the laser and instant on technology makes it a mute point. It will let you know AFTER you are nailed if the cop uses either of these.

Scrambling...now that'* a whole nother ball game.

agreed.. most larger police departments (or smaller ones with some cash in their pockets) use instant on laser, which makes a detector useless... Honestly, i can say that i got more tickets when i had my radar detedtor than since i got rid of it. All it did was tell me that i was about to get pulled over.... And under very few circumstances did it actally possibly help

now to UN-hijack.

I have bought tons of refurbished products in my life and never had an issue with them... As long as it comes with a warranty and or return policy, i think you are pretty safe. I like re-furbished products... being in the manufacturing field, i know that if there is a large number of products returned, genereally they have the same issues, and a refurbished unit will have all hardware and firmware updates to cure the most common problems, and therefore MAY possibly be more reliable than a brand new product

I have not had any problems with my detector. It has all the bells & whistles. It gives me plenty of warning to slow down and it has cloaking also. It does pop, laser, etc. I especially like the built in compass

I know you ain't talkin' to me because I would tell ya..... Nope

For me it isn't really a speed thing but a reminder of how fast I'm going especially on days when I have a lot on my mind. The last time I got pulled over I actually had my mother in the car with me. We were just chatting and I was simply not paying attention. If I'd had a detector with me it would have saved me from getting pulled over but I didn't get a ticket so it worked out fine
