Default Ebay flip key-remote combo.. Thoughts?

I saw this on eBay the other day, and thought it was pretty interesting.

I've always wanted a flip style key, ever since I test drove a new Regal last summer. Has anyone ever bought one of these/had any experience with them? I'm thinking that they're only junk and don't work, but I thought I'd ask, just in case lol

It seems simple enough.. And it would be really cool if it did work. I'm just concerned about the Transponder chip.

You basically take the guts out of the OEM remote and insert it into this device. No concerns there. I would be more concerned that the key is not PK3. I don't see how it would work.

This picture came from this link:

Is there any way to do that with a key like mine? I'm pretty sure the chip in mine doesn't come out, and I don't want to risk screwing up a good key just to find out it don't work. Besides, I don't really see that working anyways. Doesn't the chip fit in a slot in the ignition?

That'* what mine looks like, so I'm guessing its one of the earlier styles.

you can bypass that type easy, just test the resistance of the key and get a resistor the same value and solder it in. i think they go in a white jacket cable to the IPC on GA/century/cierra

Hmm. I might do that. There'* a remote start system in my car.. is it possible that there is already some sort of bypass from that?

sometimes on starters they put the bypass on a relay so the resistor is only in the circuit while the remote starter is used. you will have to look and see
