I was actually thinking about getting one myself and am trying to decide between two...

Escort Passport 8500 X50 - $345 @ Crutchfield

-or-

Beltronics STI Driver - $455 @ Crutchfield

They seem about the same for features, but the escort is way cheaper. And I trust the Escort name, but does anyone have experience with the STI? There had better be some pretty good things for it to be $110 more than a top model Escort

i have been researching these on the net and have found that either the escort X50 or the bel pro rx65 are the best ones for under 400. the bel sti is a good one but you can get the same from the other two. the only advantage the sti has is that it is undetectable on the spectre 2 detector-detectors. and they only use those where radar detectors are actually illegal which is virginia, washinton dc and military bases, and seeing youre from wisconsin, you shouldnt need the extra feature unless you plan on visiting these places frequently. but this is what ive read and the net could just be BSing me but..yeah
