When I was 17, and a junior in High School, my younger sister was obsessed about N'Sync. It was March or April, Tom Green was all the rage... Buzzkill was one of my favorite shows....
My sister arrived home one day after school excited because she had heard that N Sync was going to sign autographs at the Mall of America May 6th, 1999.
I had the idea to get a group of friends together in order to pull a harmless stunt that would get us on the news for sure. We would raid the N Sync autograph signing by attacking them with squirt guns, then getting on the news cameras as they were taking us away. Great Idea huh? I thought so, but then Columbine happened, and we were nervous about running around with fake guns.. New Plan. Best High School memory ever.

The Mall of America was filled with girls that day. They opened up the mall at 5am just to start letting them in. The Radio had said something like 20,000 girls were waiting in line for the 4 hour autograph session. When you went inside, all you saw was the line of people. It stretched across the entire mall. People were taking naps in sleeping bags.
There was 6 of us. Three of us had filled Sears bags with water balloons, two cameramen, and one getaway driver, with a McDonald'* cup over the license plate.

We were right in front taping when NSync Arrived on stage. I have never heard anything so loud, and I've been inside the metrodome during the Vikings game. 20,000 girls screaming as loud as they can. We took the escalators up to the 4th floor of the rotunda and waiting for our chance. We saw our cameramen all set up. and the driver was waiting just outside the door. We saw our chance about 45 minutes into the event, dropped a few balloons toward the stage, and ran like hell. The only thing we heard was everything go silent, Then loud LOUD screams. we got into our car and drove off into distance.............

We made the 10:00 news on every station, N Sync was taken away, the autograph signing canceled. So many young teen girls disappointed. We were on the cover of the Pioneer Press and Star Tribune. I have a copy of Entertainment Weekly where we were the 9th most talked about item of the week, and it made the rest of the school year, and the next very interesting. Best part is? Locked away somewhere there might just be a tape of this... The news stories....Two perspectives from the cameramen... The news paper clippings.......

A friend got me with this one 30+ years ago. I fell for it hook, line & sinker.

As we're walking down an aisle at work he mumbles "updoc on your shoes". All I understood was "on your shoes" so I say "what?" as I'm looking at my shoes. He mumbles again "You've got updoc on your shoes. Looking at my shoes & seeing nothing I say "What are you talking about" Clearly he says "You've got updoc on your shoes". Getting pissed off I yell "What the f*** is updoc. His reply "Who the f*** are you Bugs Bunny?".
