Problem is he has a dell (I'm running an 8200 desktop myself).
The problem is they use special pinouts on the mobo molex connector, the case is somewhat non-standard, etc.
$800 might be a lil extra for those parts, but it has a warranty, and can be returned to a local store in the twin cities. Microcenter is great, bought my digital camera there.

Well, since Menards has insulation on sale (the one time The Missus reads the freakin' home improvement store ads!! ), I guess I'll just get a new, bigger hard drive. $80 for a 250GB, 7200 RPM HD ain't bad. All my issues I've been having appear to be due to a failing HD anyways...
Not as much fun as a whole new system, but not as much "get into trouble" potential either...

I love having connections in IS!! I got permission to dig through the systems headed off for recycling. The only restriction, no hard drives (corporate data and stuff y'know). 10 and 20 MB pieces of crap anyways.
But, I did find two 512 MB sicks (all the slots I got on my Dell). Took 'em home, and I now have 1 GB od RAM!! Yay for me!! Go get that ne HD this weekend, and I'll actually have a decent system again. Kind of a waste since I don't have anything but the dial-up internet, but still cheaper than giving up and starting over....

Right now, I really don't have direct access to anything newer than a P3 will run. next week when my contact gets back from school, though, I'll see what they got across the street.
