Default Trouble, trouble, trouble

I recently bought this car, I love the way it rides, drives, everything. I believe one of the rear wheels need balanced, only shudders around 70mph.

Three Problems...

1. Shudders on the highway...although the steering wheel is not shaking = makes me think rear wheels. (not so much worried about)

2. Service Engine Soon light came on today. Autozone says P0449. Evap Solenoid not shutting and opening the canister. (annoying SES light)

3. Also, the classic, frigid air conditioning on passenger side, and lukewarm crap on the driver'* side. Can someone please take pictures or get a diagram of the air ducts under the dash, or at least point me to the drivers underside or the passengers, so that I can get a replacement "box and door" at the junkyard... Thanks, I live in PA, and it'* getting hot here in a hurry!

If someone could please help me solve the last one, it is the only one I can replace myself. Thanks in advance!

It would help to know what trim level (SE, SLE, SSEi) you have. Can you edit your profile and put it in your signature? Your options and engine are important in answering your questions.

I have all of the plastic off under neath the dash and the glove box taken out.

It looks like the heater core and the A/C core all come into one central unit behind the stereo.

I don't mind taking it apart, I just don't know which motor would be broken... the heat works fine on both sides, just the A/C is only cold on the passenger side.

Some will depend on whether you have the automatic, or manual controls. However, if you start at this point with the demo vehicle from AllData, you'll likely find what you need.
Heating and Air Conditioning

One of our members also reported that a tech at the dealership told him that if the freon level starts getting low, it defaults to warmer on the driver'* side.

If your level is fine, start with the "air door" link once you get to the AllData page.

Edit - While you're at AllData, may as well check out this link for your evap problem. The code of for the vent valve (rear of the car by the back wheel), not the purge solenoid on the engine.

AWESOME diagrams, thank you so much.

Recirculation Actuator Replacement
Mode Actuator Replacement
Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Right
Air Temperature Actuator Replacement - Left

Those are the 4 links, i know it'* not the recirculation actuator.
Are one of the temperature actuators the ones i want replaced? The mode works well, but I am thinking the mode would control the door. What is the differene between the temp. actuator and the mode actuator?

The temperature actuators will change position to adjust the air temps. The mode actuator works to direct the air flow (vents, floor, defrost).

I also edited my post to include a link for your error code, in case you didn't see that.

Thanks again.

So, If my air conditioning is cold on the passenger side, and lukewarm on the driver'* side, and heat works optimally in both sides, I should replace the left air temp actuator to solve my problem right?

Have your freon level checked first. If that is up to specs, then consider the left air mix actuator. Try to observe its operation. Can you see whether or not it moves as you change the temperature setting? If it doesn't move, or moves very little, then it is likely that the actuator is bad.
