Not the brightest girl in the world:
This was absolutely deliberate. She'* not dumb. Just ridiculously stupid. It was a stunt for some end goal. Whether it be activism or a publicity stunt.
The use of playdough was the straw that broke the camel'* back. I don't think this is over-reaction at all considering the circumstances. You don't **** around with the TSA at a US airport. They have a job to do, and they take it seriously.
Anyone that air-travels often knows this.

i saw a news conference where the guy said, she was luck she was not shot.
something like, " had she not coperated, the troopers would have used deadly force"
considering the times we live in, i would say rightfully so.

I had to hand-carry some parts back from my recent trip to MN. 2 aluminum pneumatic cylinders, 2 hall-effect proximity sensors, and 2 wiring harnesses for the sensors. I had no checked bags. Only 2 carry-on'*.
I printed the manufacturers spec sheets on all the parts and had a photo of them installed in the machinery just in case I was questioned about them. Most people wouldn't know what they were.
I was also limited to 3 ounces of any liquid or gel. And for good reason.

This is definitely an over reaction. To say that they were justified in using lethal force on suspicion that she had a bomb goes against everything we hold dear. If you're wiling to throw away our natural rights because one day 6 years ago we had 4 planes hijacked, I think it'* quite foolish. 4 planes, out of how many flights? It happened on one day, and hasn't happened since. I fly often
My take on the situation:
She was in an airport, waiting for an incoming flight. She was not boarding a plane.
She probably did this to stand out and make a point about our paranoia.
She'* going to MIT and obviously is involved in some sort of engineering degree. Liberal arts major my ***.
The play-doh was over the top, and stupid.

Personally, I think she deserves whatever she gets. She wasn't proving anything, and there is a fine line between art and just plain stupidity.
Just my opinion, maybe I am a little harsh, but people need to learn to think there actions all of the way through.
