My take on the situation:
1. Liberal arts major.
2. Lives with parents.
3. Wears birkenstocks.
4. Boyfriend has an iPhone and a pocket protector.
5. Doesn't own a car.
6. Is a tree-hugger, but still lives in a wood-framed structure.
7. Goes to political demonstrations she knows nothing about because she'* an 'activist'.
8. Doesn't shave armpits.

If the armpit hair looks anything like what'* on top of her head, that is a disturbing thought.
I think I'd consider this a case of someone who is book smart, street stupid. Even if she thought that a circuit board with flashing lights strapped to her chest which looks like a bomb was great art and worthy of display, didn't it ever cross her mind that it might not be smart to wear it at an airport post 9/11?
It might have been better for the gene pool if she had been shot on the tarmac. Chalk it up to survival of the fittest.
EDIT: I know what birkenstocks are, but that'* as close as I get to them usually.

It LOOKS quite harmless to me, just a plastic circuit board, LEDs, and a 9V battery...and..the problem is? Seems a BIT paranoid. Especially to be confronted at mutiple gunpoint. Its good to know that we're protected when traveling, so it IS hard to say where that overboard line actually is.
Whats with the play dough tho? wtf? Did they think it was C4 or something? It does add a little more tension to it.

Right, it looked like explosive of some kind. It must have looked like it could have been a bomb, for the response it was given.
Besides, if I looked like that, I'd have a motive to blow myself up in a public place too...
j/k.
