One of the things that isn't covered under the limited warranty from the dealership is the sagging door hinges. The replacement hinge pins come with bronze(or brass...) bushings rather than the OE plastic and the pin. The problem that I am currently wrestling with is how to safely remove and reinstall the detent spring. I know that I can get it out of there, but I don't know if I can get it back in. I have found references to using a small spring compressor to compress the spring, but I can not find this small compressor in any parts stores... It looks like it is just 2 pieces of stamped steel with a bolt through them.

Anyway, have any of you guys replaced these hinge pins? The are almost all exactly alike in many different GM vehicle. Let me know! TiA
