Haro, it sounds like she needs to see a physiotherapist to help her regain her strength.
Doctors will usually prescribe only medicine or surgery. That'* what they are trained to do.

She will be in our prayers.

Well, Its nice to see she has strong spirits. Your dad is doing a phenomenal job at helping her out, thats the most important thing.
I hope she starts to get better real soon!

My Mom has been on steroids (prednizone) now for 9 years. She has addison'* disease and her body doesn't produce any adreniline and you obviously need it to live. She also felt the way your Mom is feeling about her body. I believe my mom gained 150lbs in a little over a year on them. She still takes them but at a lower dosage and she has finally lost all the weight (down back to 135lbs) and got her strength back.

I hope your Mom gets better soon. I can't imagine how she feels, but I have an idea due to my mom.

Your Mom will still be in my prayers

My Mother occasionally has to use steroids to get her through her cottonwood allergies. When she'* on them, she gets a little wierder than usual.
I can only imagine they must have your Mom on a pretty massive dose to affect her that way.
Good luck to your Mom. Sounds like the docs know what they're about.

a little update from her:

I started to decrease the steroids last week and was off by last weekend. The past 2 days I got back all the signs of brain swelling. My balance is really bad and I have a " headache". I called Dr. Asfora'* office and I am starting back on the steroids this afternoon. I am going to be doing a lesser dosage then in the past. It is be for anohter whole month. I asked for the least possible dosage so that I can have strength yet in my legs. They said if I go any lower I would not benefit.

I started with physical therapy yesterday. I asked for it so I can build myself up again. I was mostly asssested but did learn something too. I learnt to walk. He showed me if walk faster it helps me to stay balanced better. He had me do some exerciese on a slant table where I slide up and down with my knees bending. I was sore in the evening from it but not overly sore so I think we did the correct amt. I go back tomorrow.

Good deal!

That PT is the best thing for her and it seems like she has the right attitude about it.

ugh :( can it get any worse for her? I have no idea how she is remaining positive through this.

Our trip back to White was pretty uneventful till the end. The fog is so thick this morning that it makes me appreciate the good weather we had traveling yesterday. There were pretty Christmas lights all the way back.

When we got to Marshall which is about 40 minutes from our house we saw a grand display. One side the street was 2 blocks of nothing but a rows and rows of medium pine trees all decorated with white lights. It was done by the Schwan'* company. Then on the other side of the street was a small forest of trees all decorated in colored lights and each different. Plus a car decorated. It was very impressive. I took a couple picture from the car but decided to do a couple where I get closer. I got out of the car and stepped up the curb and proceeded. The ground was level and shovel with no obstacles but some how I lost my balance and started to tip forward. I tried to stop but I ended up falling a major fall on to cement. I hit hard! I hit my head on the forehead and left side of my face. I have a skin abrasion to add to my looks now. I have been worried hitting my head would set off problems but I am doing fine. I also thought I would be very stiff and sore today but all is working and moving ok.

Lee had just turned his head to look at something else so he missed the fall. He said he looked back and he couldn't see me and wonders where I went. Then he sees me laying there. I felt like forever before he came and picked me up.

The fall was bad enough but there is more too it yet. I had my camera around my neck. It got smashed major when I fell! It was sandwiched between me and the cement. The lens was out and got damaged on the edges and will not retract. It is all scratched up. I am sure there is internal damages also. The warranty I have is one year which ends on the 21st and today is the 20th. I called and asked about coverage. It will not cover the damage I caused. So I am camera less for Christmas. How much bad luck can I have? I thought I could rent a camera for Christmas from the store but there is nothing like that. I am not sure what I am going to do.

Oh boy :? Glad she'* okay though. She seemed more worried about the camera than herself. From reading what she writes you, she seems like a very strong willed woman. I dunno how she does it!
