I don't like to carry a lot of money on me. I mainly use my debit card but on occasion I use checks to write a few bills each month.
Give me one good reason WHY.

Why I don't carry cash or why I occasionally write a check? I will address both -
Cash:
I don't like to carry a lot of cash because if someone steals my purse I will not be able to recover the $$. I don't take my hand off of my purse if I am in a store because I have expensive taste in purses but I know of someone who got robbed at gunpoint and had their purse taken. I would have probably said "I don't think so!!" and decked the person. When I cash my check on Friday I always take out about $60 - $80 for my spending money through the week and the rest goes into my account.

Check:
I sometimes write checks to pay like my electric bill because they haven't set up an online system and I work out of town so I can only drop a check in the drop box. I also write a check for my car payment from my 2 accounts and my son takes them for me since he is going to the credit union anyways. My son puts some $ in one of my accounts to help out around the house. I also pay with check when I go to the junk yard, he doesn't take debit/credit cards. I also pay my tithe with a check since I don't carry a lot of cash on me.

Interesting turn with the why or why not carry cash.

I have a friend that thinks carrying $500 at all times is about right. Whereas I go to an ATM if I need cash and find that debitcard is much easier and keeps the cash I have in my pocket longer vs spending it and replenishing.

Debitcard is a great thing in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more

I have an emergency $50 hidden in my wallet. Other than that I rarely carry cash, its Visa (debit) card for everything. In less than a year its usually in horrible shape. LOL.

I find when I do carry cash in my pocket, I burn thru it ALOT faster.

Cash preferred. I wouldn't hesitate to carry any amount of cash. I prefer it in $100'*
