The 2 best powerplants for Chrysler 4 cylinders were the Turbo 2 (beefier bottom end than the Turbo 1 and was intercooled) and the Turbo 1 2.5 (which with the 5 speed made 210 lbs. of torque). The second one I had in my LeBaron GTC and it was a screamer...managed to get that thing to 12lbs. of boost with the small Mitsubishi turbo on it

Yeah I had a fully loaded if yor could call it that.....1978 Chrysler Lebaron with the 318 5.2 liter V8 and chyslers answer to saving gas at the time. It was called "Lean Burn" which was a huge solid state computer that sat right up top the engine on the ahir cleaner. What a nightmare that system was......
But the 318 itself was bullet proof. Drove 40 miles with no oils pressure knocking and all. had a new oil pump put in and the engine still worked.

Speaking of Chryslers... my dad had a 78 Cordoba with the 360 4 barrel. He told me that he had a leaky water pump on it, and drove it like that until all the coolant was gone. The engine would lock up, he would sit about 10 minutes, fire it back up and be on his way. I was astonished.
