Default McDonald'* recalls Shrek glasses

Hey guys. I know we just bought one of these cups on the way down to Branson so I thought I'd tell you guys in case anyone had these things

McDonald'* pulls 12M cadmium-tainted Shrek glasses
McDonald'* recalls 12 million Shrek-themed drinking glasses containing cadmium in paint job

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Cadmium has been discovered in the painted design on "Shrek"-themed drinking glasses being sold nationwide at McDonald'*, forcing the burger giant to recall 12 million of the cheap U.*.-made collectibles while dramatically expanding contamination concerns about the toxic metal beyond imported children'* jewelry.

The CPSC noted in its recall notice that "long-term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects." Cadmium is a known carcinogen that research shows also can cause bone softening and severe kidney problems.

In the case of the Shrek-themed glassware, the potential danger would be long-term exposure to low levels of cadmium, which could leach from the paint onto a child'* hand, then enter the body if the child puts that unwashed hand to his or her mouth.

Hrmmm... Guess they will be slightly more collectible now. Wish I could say the same for the BK glasses from star trek.

I've seen both Star Wars and Star Trek, so I'll say honestly that both have their merits, and excuse myself from this thread before a flamewar erupts.

China has a pretty ingenious hazard materials disposal plan. They make toys, jewelry and novelty drinking glasses out of it and then export them to the US and abroad.
