It's totalled (now with pics)
I'm glad to see you're still with us and at least this guy will not be driving a big rig again. (at least if I understand my licensing he won't be).
Insurance will always try to lowball you. If your back is messed up see a lawyer, you can always include future related medical bill into a settlement.

If you're thinking that "back in the good ole days" people would admit fault and voluntarily pay for their mistakes....then you have a distrubing blind spot about history and human nature.

OK, I'm thinking like the 35 year (without an at fault accident) truck driver here.
Why didn't Shadd look in his mirror before starting the turn? He should have seen the other truck coming unless I'm missing something here.
I'm sure the insurance company will ask the same question, plus many more. Settlement may not be cut and dried.

The other truck could be sited for being in the wrong lane....Failure to yeild the right of way...etc...
As far as your injuries go Shadd...sometimes things take a while to crop up. Check out the local injuries lawyers, many times they will consult for free. They can advise you on how to deal with the insurance companies. You will want doctor opinions and do not want to settle with the insurance company too soon, in the event there are extenuating injuries.
Just because you consult a lawyer, doesn't mean you have to sue....you just want to be sure you protect yourself legally.
