P.J. it makes you smart. Why do all the work when some one else will do it for you? For free even!

There is nothing wrong with having a working knowledge of your car. In my experience, it is unusual for women to be interested in car work, though. Most guys will love that you know about cars, if for no other reason than that your eyes won't glaze over when they start talking "car stuff" with you.

When I help my son or my daughter with their car problems, I insist that they at least help with it. That way, if in the future they decide that they want to have a shop do some work, they are less likely to get "ripped off" if they know what'* what. You just keep doing what you're doing.

My dad has always done 98% of my repairs but with the condition that I stand out there and pay attention and help when needed. When I was much younger my mother feared I would learn how too many new cuss words by listening to my dad. Shortly after that I started working for a construction company, ordering the trades to various jobs and learned how to speak construction fluently.
