Good luck with everything. You should have fun though. Are you active or reserve? Major benefits to both obviously

Have fun in the army man. good luck with joining active duty. Just hope they dont stick you with a hard-ship[Korea] tour like they do most newbies in the army.

It is hard to see you step down but the reason is understandable.

Wow man, that fast eh?! Well good luck with it. I've not met a 31C but it'* all Signal Corp. Good choice on Jackson

My best advice for the next few weeks: You are not at Basic Training to make friends! They'll say that there too, take it serious. It'll only get you a dozen more smoking sessions (the not good kind) if you chat it up with a buddy. Get caught chatting with a girl and you'll quickly have a one-way ticket back home. We lost about 1/3 of our platoon by the end of Basic, much of it from chatting with girls...yeah, sucks. A lot of them are going to AIT with you too, meet them there. Blend in as much as possible, keep yer mouth shut, and don't talk to anyone unless you have to. It'* only for a short time, but it'll make it a lot easier on you.

Aside from that, don't take anything personally. They're going to yell at everyone there and you'll feel like a clown when they do. Just get that it'* their job, they got a LOT of training on doing it, so admire and respect that fact and you'll be ok. Everyone gets yelled at so it'll only be embarassing for a moment, then it'* the next guys turn.

Oh, and don't ever call the Drill Sergeant "sir" ooooh boy don't call them "sir."
