Default IE problems

I've been having some computer problems as of late. anything explorer based takes forever to load. Say you click on any of the My computer, Control Panel, My Documents, Internet Explorer, they all take forever to load. Sometimes it takes up to 3 minuts just for the window to come up. once it does though it seems to be fine. I have run Spy bot Search and destroy, adaware pro, and virus scanner to no avail. any ideas? I've checked all my processes under the task manager and all appear to be legit. (searched all of them on google.) It just started doing this a few days ago. :(

I used to have this problem too. Lemme guess.. XP? Check your system logs when you load up "My Computer" or the like. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Even Viewer -> System Log [located on left, probably selected by default].

I think it is a core file that has become corrupt. If you have SP2 throw it in the garbage. Make sure your computer has EVERY SINGLE AVAILABLE UPDATE! Those make a large difference in performance, reliability, and compatability.

yes. It'* XP with SP2. Guess I should enable event viewer again. I had it disabled because I was too lazy to check the logs all the time and they were usually full.

ok. checked event viewer under the system log. Every time it takes forever for these windows to open I get this critical error in event viewer:

{ The server {B5AB638F-D76C-415B-A8F2-F3CEAC502212} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. }
