snowmobiles are fun, but the newer ones are just too fast. i had a 340 when i was younger and that was fast enough for winter when most of the time you cant hardly see where you are going. we have a 440 at work and thats too fast, if you hold down the throttle at anything past 20mph it gets all squirly. and the thing is i dont think you can get anything that slow any more. cant believe more people dont die because you for sure cant slow down very fast

I dont know whats going on here on the west (wet) coast Canada.
Normally there is a lot of snow in the local mountains, now it is just rain and hardly any snow. Ski conditions even at Whistler, Manning Park etc must be just rude.
Rain in the forecast for next 7 in a row and like 8c ?Must be global warming....
I normally grab the camera and X-Country ski'* and head out.
Maybe next Month...

It has been down right cold here. Highs were -5*F for a couple days. Today is much warmer with highs around 15, but the windchill is keeping things at 5*F. So I was able to get outside today and clear over a foot of hard snow from the driveway. Only to leave and get the car stuck a little way down the not plowed street.

damn near killed myself trying to drive home from 'Bama on sunday. 64*F all the way to southern indianapolis... by the time i got to northern indianapolis it was 8*F and snowing like a mother. it was like i was driving down a cobblestone road in france.. only difference was those cobblestones were chunks of frozen slick as snot snow. after passing about 10 cars in the ditch (ironically the ego heads in the 4X4'* that had passed me earlier) and getting at a 35* angle with the road myself, we decided to stop in lebanon indiana till yesterday. we stayed the extra day because indiana declared a state of emergency, and the roads were restricted to emergency vehicles only. the penalty if you were caught driving was a $2500.00 and a tow to an impound lot. (attached a pic of the vacant 8 lane interstate I-65)

the 100 or so miles home took 6 hours, with a max speed of 35mph. the 18" of snow fell too fast and the arctic vortex thingamamobber dropped the temp to negative 18*F. no way salt or the plows could touch that. so the whole way home the roads were about 1" thick compacted (now ice) snow.

then i came home to snow up to my mom'* cars (02 century) windows. my little 24" wide 16" tall toro had its work cut out for about 3 hours to dig out all 4 parking spots/cars.

BOY do i wish i was still in Alabama!!!!!!!

also, the nighttime pic of my car is when we first stopped in lebanon. when i left alabama, my car had just been washed that morning.
