Full Moon-Lunar Eclipse
just went out and took these. i just caught the last quarter. I didnt have my camera on me earlier. I too need a zoom lens. I could probably take a few pictures with the 35mm slr that has a 75-200mm lens but im too lazy and i would have to get film developed. I took these with my 10.2 mp Nikon D40x. Really tiny from this distance

The Earth'* shadow has no color and no light. The umbra shadow is larger than the Moon, and while the Moon is in the umbra shadow the only significant light that can reach it is sunlight bending through Earth'* atmosphere.
Which is pretty cool.

That'* not quite accurate. The reddish glow is sunlight refracting through Earth'* thin atmosphere, and is red for the same reasons the setting sun is red, but the sky is blue. Blue light scatters more, red light wavelengths scatter less.

I've seen these similar events before many years ago. It was red then
There must be some serious pollution and ozone damage to give that reflected red glow to the moon...................better take warning.
