Advantages of having been through a lotta crap, very little scares me anymore. Most of the time, if you tell them no and ACT confident, they'll back off.

Well, for a 'results with a slap in the face' pick-up-line you could try:

Hi, I'm a bird-watcher and I'm looking for a big-breasted-bed-thrasher. Have you seen one?

For one that will bring better results, well, just tell him nothing works better on a true lady than a conversation in which you aren't trying to impress them (if you can hold a general conversation with them it will give them a good enough idea and you will have a good foot in the door to better odds with her). Just stay cool, and if the true lady is willing to talk do not think of it as 'she wants to go home with me'. Just shrug that thought off and think more along the lines of her being just a regular old friend of yours. If things are going to progress, let the things come as they will, just don't rush them along. Rush and you will be in for a big let down or someone will be hurt.

From my own personal experiences I used to try to pick up the women all the time and it seemed like it never worked. I only ended up with something that I regretted. Now that I have matured somewhat, I have trouble staying single (I don't really want to date at the moment), as almost every time I go out with my friends to just hang-out they (most of them are married and have kids) they always give me the name of some girl that they think I ask out.
Point being try to get just any girls attention and odds are your going to pick up something you don't want. Just stay cool, don't act like a fool, and don't make them think you are desperate. That will scare them off. try taking a little time off from trying to pick up women and the next thing you know they will make a u-turn and be begging at your feet.

i think body language helps alot. Smile when you talk (if they're hot then you'll be happy to be talking to them anyway), and use open body language, ie: dont cross your arms across your chest, stuff like that. Try to look relaxed, and you will feel relaxed.

Very, very true.
Eye-contact is very important also.
Also, choose your words wisely. A good vocabulary is a big turn on for women, and swearing and such are turn offs.
