See you didn't realize you were pretty much moving to Bonne-central.

It'll get better, remember there is a bc'er no more than prolly an hour away and you're closer to all of the meets now

Yo Codeman....you're not alone...there'* other Freshmen feeling the same as you.... it just takes time to get to know people. Got a roommate? Have you met people who can sign? Enjoy the downtime...soon you'll have so much homework you'll wish all you had to do was to be homesick.

Yea, I had a rough time for the first week, but I got into things as quickly as possible to keep my mind off the negative.

You'll miss being in res more than you can imagine once you've been out of it for a year...

When I first got out on my own, and had to overnight (and sometimes more) travel for work, I felt homesick too. One thing for me that eased that was the evening news. Because it was always on every night in our house. Guess it was the familarity.

Is there a simple routine you can recreate to help you over this hump? It will get better, and I agree with whomever posted to meet some ladies

Is there a student union you can hang out at?

Well i've been here 4 years now in Mankato, and i've got 4 months or so left. Granted I live about 1 hr and 10 min from home when i hit some red lights on the way. Once you get some things on your platter you wont even think about going home. I'd also recommend against a long distance relationship, it really tied me down for a few months, and was way too much trouble then it was worth. Maybe it was just a bad girl...

You'll have the time of your life, and every year you'll want to be on your own that much more, it'* my main motivation right now. In the dorms take the time to walk around and chat. My biggest advice is to do all the on campus activities you can stand, and then some. You'll meet more people that way then anything else. DO NOT go to dumb parties that will get busted, if you do drink underage, drink smart. It only takes one person to screw up, or to get pissed and call in a party.

But most of all, just do your thing. Go to class, talk to your teachers, and know what'* coming up.

Hey, Don't worry. I didn't realize you were in town. Where'* your dorm and how do I get a hold of you? While I don't know much sign, I know we can manage with pen and paper.

And, I got a sunbird that needs the motor taken apart if the weather is nice. I know you can turn a wrench.

And the town gets much better when you know the rest of it. Henrietta is kinda out there from most everything else.

Don't sweat it, Just give it some time. I don't know the Rochester area (I'm from a different area of the Rust Belt) but I'm sure there'* stuff to do to take your mind off of being away from home. First order of business. Get a street map of Rochester and start getting your bearings.

(Felt the same way about Daytona when I came here to go to school. Took a little time with a map and a 10-speed to get the town figured out..where to go, what to do.)

Cody....you've been dreaming about being away from Mom and Dad for a long time. Don't let the newness overwhelm you.

Rochester is a great town.. get out and explore a bit.. holler at Geoff and Ryan. They'll show you around and tell you where the best food etc is. I had a blast when I was in Rochester.
