Dude, just be happy you didn't join the Air Force or something like that!
At least in college you can just leave if you really wanted to (I don't recommend it, though!) - when I was 19 and in Basic sTraining getting my trash kicked, I couldn't leave. That sucked.
You just need to get busy, you need something to occupy your time so you're not dwelling on how much you miss home. Wanna get your mind off home? Take classes in Electricity & Magnetism (physics) and Complex Variables (math) concurrently. That'll fix ya! lol
Tough it out for a couple weeks, mate, you'll be OK.

I may drop my cousin a line to look out for you around campus, and run like hell if she does see you, I think she knows some basic sign. She'* up there doing the Computer Sciences thing.
I had a hard time getting used to truck driving. Not so much homesickness, as just not knowing when I'm going to be home. Working out schedules for family stuff is almost impossible.
Hang in there, I know it'* rough moving away from home for the first time, but once you get settled in, you'll have a blast. Besides, you're surrounded by college girls, how the hell can you not be having fun?!
